Taste of Michigan Event a Success: Supports Doulas Care and Promotes Local Businesses
We enjoyed a fun fundraising event at the Gladwin Center on Saturday, December 3, 2011 when we hosted an evening of tasting both beverages and selected food items from local Ann Arbor businesses. In the spirit of being a community based organization we looked to our local community members for this special event. We had food sponsored by LA Baguette, Morgan and York, Ypsilanti Food Co-Op, Frita Batidos , Beezy’s, Sacred Roots and Sava’s. Chocolate tastings were provided by Tammy of Tammy’s Tastings. We had beer tastings sponsored by Arbor Brewing Company and Wolverine State Brewing and the wine tasting with Michigan wines and other selections supported by Baxter’s. The evening was highlighted with wonderful jazz provided by the Vanguard group from Community High School’s Jazz Program. With the added support of the UM Women’s Studies: Women in the Community interns and the graphic design support of Stephanie Holloway for the invitation the event was complete. We thank all those who came out as volunteers and those who attended in support of Doulas Care. We all enjoyed a wonderful evening of friendship and community in honor of the Doulas Care Doulas who work with childbearing women and their families throughout Southeastern Michigan.

New Office Location with Lamaze Family Center
The Lamaze Family Center is moving into a new office location which will provide increased classroom facilities and greater access to classes and programs for the families they serve at 2855 Boardwalk. Doulas Care, through the generosity of the Lamaze organization and its Executive Director Stephanie Schalderbrand, we also be able to take advantage of these new resources and space. Doulas Care will continue to have office space within the Lamaze Family Center. We will be one of two community groups supported in this way by the Lamaze Family Center organization. The Doulas Care thanks the Lamze Family Center for this opportunity and is pleased to be a part of the many resources and services now available in this new site serving childbearing women and their families.
